Em releases NEW single "Roaring Fire".

Fire, light, and warmth. These are all things we’re drawn to during the long winter months in the Northern hemisphere. “Roaring Fire” was my attempt at writing a comforting holiday tune, although not surprisingly, it turned out a little more off the beaten path than a typical Christmas tune.

I spent some time reacquainting myself with spiritual elements of this season as I began to write. I grew up singing carols, singing at midnight Christmas Eve services, and beside the piano in my grandparents’ home. I always delighted in those musical traditions year after year. As a child I loved an inviting hearth, or even an open fire. Like the ancient Celts, I would imagine my dreams and fears while staring into the fire. The fire destroys, but it also purifies and refines, and I knew I wanted to harness that power for good.

This song is my first solo release since 2014 and I am so grateful to be back! I dusted off my acoustic guitar, and dove headfirst into writing again, hopeful that I would come up with something beautiful. I’m excited for what’s coming out of my soul right now. There’s always a need for music that brings peace and joy in the world, and I’m enjoying tapping into these folk roots.

“Roaring Fire” is heavily influenced by my Celtic inspirations; Mairead Nesbitt, Kate Price and Enya. I’ve always loved the bravery of Dutch singer Anneke Van Giersbergen too and very much follow in her footsteps.

Maybe this song will be a comfort to you. You might be missing the warmth of family, or the light of the sun this season. Perhaps you need to cast a fear into the fire and let it drift away. I’m a vessel, so whatever you need this song to be, I offer that to you through music. Cheers, Em.
