NEW! Em covers Within Temptation!

It’s always an exciting day when I get to sing a song by one of my favorite bands. You can click on the video below to watch my latest YouTube cover of Within Temptation’s “Forgiven” from their album, The Heart of Everything.

This recording was a REAL struggle because I wasn’t using my usual interface at my computer. Instead, I was trying out a new remote set-up, with only one in-ear monitor, and let’s just say that I learned a lot! It meant more time and effort on the production side of things to adjust to sound issues that I hadn’t previously dealt with. Nevertheless, I’m pleased with how it turned out in the end, and proud to be singing one of my favorite Sharon Den Adel tracks. She is absolutely one of my biggest inspirations and I love her voice.

I’m naturally an alto (trained mezzo later in life) so the high ethereal notes are always a fun challenge. I didn’t get too operatic with this one because I wanted to use a more modern lullaby tone. One day, when I don’t share walls with neighbors I’ll really belt things out. for now, it’s sweet serenades. Enjoy!
